P’nyang Gas Project

P’nyang gas field, licensed under PRL 3, is located in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea. The gas field was first discovered in the 1990s by then operator Chevron Niugini Ltd. The structure trends approximately 20km NW-SE and extends 10km NE-SW. Net reservoir thickness ranges from 182-202 meters with an estimated 2C recoverable hydrocarbon resource of 4.3 tcf.

Currently operated by ExxonMobil Limited, the joint venture partners are Ampolex (PNG) Pty Ltd, Oil Search (PNG) Ltd, Merlin Petroleum Company and Oil Search Ltd.

The P’nyang proposed development concept based on preliminary studies conducted is such that the gas and condensate export pipelines will
connect to the existing facilities of the foundation project (PNG LNG) at the Kutubu Central Processing Facility (CPF). The field is intended to
expand the PNG LNG Project as well as provide natural gas for power generation. The APDL review process has been completed.
Despite the stalemate of the recent Gas Agreement negotiations, the government is very positive and will ensure a win-win situation with the P’nyang gas deal going forward.
